Chapter 25: Image and Illustration Specification Sheet

General notes for the photographer/producer brief:

  • All photography of real artisans requires explicit, informed consent and correct name/credit, confirmed directly with the subject — never inferred from a cooperative's general activities.
  • Product/motif photography should be shot against a neutral or black background for visual consistency with the book's traditional colour palette.
  • All custom diagrams (Figs. 1–5, map, cover) are delivered as scalable SVG so they can be recoloured or resized for print vs. web without quality loss.
  • Where a specific commercial seller's product photo might otherwise be used, prefer artisan- or cooperative-sourced images with permission, both for legal safety and to keep compensation and credit with the makers.

Closing Note

This book was compiled as a living reference: Kasuti is a hand-taught, orally transmitted tradition, and no single volume can capture every regional and family variation. Where this book has flagged uncertainty, contradiction, or a thin evidentiary record, that is a deliberate choice — the goal is a resource teachers, learners, and professionals can trust precisely because it does not overstate what is known. Corrections, regional variants, and additional documented sources are welcome for future editions.
